Appointments System

The practice operates an advanced booking system which has been introduced by the Primary Care Trust.  This system is in place across the country.  The advanced access system is to help patients to be seen by any doctor within 48 hours.

For an urgent appointment, or to be seen ‘on the day’, please ring at 08:00.

You can also register for our online service and book an appointment with the doctor in advance.

Extended Hours

Extended GP hours are available on Tuesday evenings until 19:00 and Thursday mornings from 07:30.

Early morning nurse appointments are available from 07:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Home Visits

If you are too ill to come to the surgery and need a home visit, please try to ring the surgery before 10:00 if possible.

URGENT requests for visits may be made at any time of the day as there will always be a doctor on duty to deal with emergencies.

Telephone Advice

If you require advice from the doctor or nurse please telephone the main surgery number and you will be given a time when someone will be available to speak with you.

Cancellations & Reminders

Cancel an Appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.

 

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

Interpreter

 

NON-ENGLISH SPEAKERS

If English is not your first language, we offer the option of Language Line. We ask that when arranging an appointment, we are made aware that you will require an interpreter and for which language this is required.

Language Line is a telephone translation rather than face to face.

 

BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE

If you have a hearing disability and would benefit from a BSL interpreter, please make us aware prior to your appointment so we can arrange for an interpreter to be present

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Private Medical Examinations

Medical examinations for special purposes such as pre-employment, fitness to travel, elderly drivers, fitness to undertake sports etc., will require longer than a routine appointment.

These examinations do not form part of NHS Services, you will be charged for any such examination. Please check the fee chargeable page here before arranging any such examination. Please inform the receptionist when arranging such appointments.
